If you’ve begun making niyyah (intention) for Hajj 2026, one of the most important steps you can take today is ensuring your travel documents are in order.
According to international travel regulations, your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your date of travel.
For Hajj 2026, this means your passport should be valid through December 2026 to avoid any complications during registration or travel.
Since your passport information is required during the Nusuk registration process, we strongly recommend renewing it early if it expires before that date.
The process for American passport holders is simple, and most U.S. citizens are eligible to renew online through the official U.S. Department of State website.
If you’re not eligible for online renewal, you can still renew your passport:
- By mail, if you meet the renewal criteria; or
- In person at a passport agency or center (by appointment only).
Passport agencies prioritize applicants with urgent international travel within 14 days, or those who need a foreign visa within 28 days.
In the past, some of our pilgrims successfully secured appointments by explaining that they required a valid passport for their Hajj visa (religious pilgrimage) application.
However you choose to renew your passport, we encourage you to do it early. Having this ready in advance will make your Hajj registration through Nusuk that much smoother, and bring you one step closer to your sacred journey, insha’Allah.
